HOW USING SPACE INTELLIGENTLY CAN BENEFIT YOUR WELL-BEING
Paul rang to ask if we could help him improve the wardrobe in his bedroom that, he said “they had put up with” for a number of years since moving in. The existing wardrobe was crammed full, didn’t really serve him and his wife too well as it had limited shelves and the hanging space was full and sagging.
The room was light and airy and had a wonderful view over the nearby fields and distant Loch and with an attractive en-suite that had recently been upgraded. The wardrobe however let the whole appeal of the room down. It had been joiner designed and installed into a recess to the right hand side of a chimney breast some years ago and really didn’t meet current practical requirements nor the aesthetics of the modern room, (Ill-fitting old doors and shelves on ugly strapping – a dated image).
Paul and his wife had to store some of their clothes in other rooms in the house.
When we visited to survey the room, Paul already had some ideas that he felt would improve things for them.
- Could we take out the existing fittings, and re-use the space, but was it possible to hide the chimney breast if the wardrobe doors could be moved out slightly into the room to slide infront?
- To the left hand side of the chimney breast was unused space in another recess - could we incorporate this into the new wardrobe and have the sliding doors fit over the full height and width of the room and in a light colour, adding to the light and airy feel of the room?
Answer – of course, our forte!
Stretching the wardrobe over the full width of the room produced a 5-Door wardrobe incorporating seven divisions, one that housed the chimney breast onto which a long length mirror was installed. With some help and suggestions from us, the other six divisions allowed a combination of double hanging, full length hanging, pull-out baskets and shelves, shoe racks etc., all to suit Paul and his wife’s intended use and their preferences. The wardrobe body was finished in white and white coloured glass doors with a subtle décor strip to add to the opulence of the room.
Result – A modern asset to the bedroom successfully utilising the available space, improving practical use and presenting a wonderful room feature…
Another very pleased and satisfied client.
