2017 Trends in the Bedroom
The bedroom should be the place to relax and kick back after a long day at the office. But, all too quickly, it can become cluttered, stuffed with things that shouldn’t be there.
If you want to create a boudoir that is modern, on-trend and without the clutter, you need the latest ideas for bedroom design hotly tipped for success in 2017.
Kick off your bedroom makeover with these five great ideas…
The 2017 Must-Have Colour is… GREEN
Pantone colour of the year 2017 is ‘greenery’, a refreshing yellow-green shade that brings a little bit of nature into the bedroom.
Use it well, with a bold statement wall and vibrant green soft furnishings such as scatter cushions on your bed, as well as a large contrasting bed spread.
If you have a sliding door wardrobe, investing in mirrored or white sliding doors can also give the bedroom a modern appeal and enhancing the green shading and hues in the space without closing it down.
The 2017 Must-Have Material is… CORK
It might not be your first choice but alongside the vibrancy of green, cork is light and neutral.
It is a material making its presence felt in many ways, including as a wall covering especially on the wall behind the bed and is also being used on bedside table and more.
It has a benefit in that cork also absorbs noise, perfect in larger rooms and open plan spaces.
The Must-Have Piece of Kit… TECHNOLOGY
On one hand, we are told that our smart phones and tablets keep us awake at night but on the other, connectivity within the home will make life easier.
And that’s why in 2017 you can expect more tech in the bedroom. From soothing sounds to controlling the lighting and curtains, to beds that as well as heat massage us too, there are all kinds of ways that tech is being incorporated into the bedroom.
The Must-Have Accessory… UPHOLSTERED BEDHEAD
Introducing fabric into a bedroom on the wall adds texture, as well as a focal point and a splash of colour too.
Upholstered bed spreads are easy to make – all you need is a large piece of board, wadding, fabric and fixings, as well as wall fixings, and you have all the ingredients to make your own bespoke upholstered bed head.
But don’t skimp on the size – opt for super large, from ceiling to floor if you can.
The Must-Have Furniture Style – QUIRKY
Designers tell us that we are bored of simplicity when it comes to furniture. And a statement piece of furniture is a great addition to the bedroom. As well as being slightly quirky, think statement colours too.
What changes will you make to your bedroom? Which of these trends will you enjoy?
